Centean

Student Counsellor

Bachelor of Applied Counselling (B.A Counselling), Interactive Drawing Therapy (Foundational Level), Internal Family Systems Therapy/IFS Informed (Introductory Level), Provisional Member of NZAC (Pending)

Centean works with tamariki, rangatahi, and adults of all ages. She firmly believes in the reparative power of the therapeutic relationship and its capacity to foster healing and uplift the mana of both client, counsellor and the collective. Centean values creating spaces where clients feel safe, empowered, and accepted just as they are.

Centean’s approach is warm, holistic and collaborative, grounded in person-centred therapy and shaped by attachment theory, neurodiversity-affirming practice, and trauma-informed care. She brings a creative and developmentally attuned approach to her work, incorporating Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT), play therapy, and art-based interventions to support expression, insight, and healing. She also draws on family systems theory – holding deep respect for the cultural, relational, environmental, and intergenerational contexts that influence wellbeing.

Her understanding of attachment has been informed by her own lived experience and through facilitating the Incredible Years parenting programme, where she has witnessed the profound impact of secure relationships and whānau support.

Centean also works from an Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) informed lens, helping clients deepen self-awareness, foster inner connection, and strengthen emotional regulation.

Of Tūhoe descent, Centean is on a journey to reconnect with her own taha Māori and integrate culturally grounded practices into her work.
